Locating great Australian wholesalers for your retail business can seem like a daunting task when you first start out. It seems like all the decent wholesalers in Australia are off hiding under a rock somewhere so you can’t find them!

Trust me, I know where you’re coming from. When I started out selling online some 8 years ago, finding decent wholesale businesses that actually sold the stuff my customers wanted to buy was quite a task.

But fortunately, it didn’t take me too long to find that rock, & when I did it was well worth it!

Trade shows. Trade shows (or fairs) are where many wholesale suppliers & importers go to get their new products noticed by retailers and to build new partnerships. This makes it the perfect place to find potential suppliers for your business.

At the trade shows, you can meet the supplier face to face and you can see exactly what products they have on offer. You might even be able to test some out to see if their quality is up to scratch. It’s a great way to build up a rapport with the wholesaler of a product you’re interested. That way, if you ring them later with further questions or to place an order there’s a reasonable chance that they will actually remember you and possibly treat you a little more favourably than someone who they’ve never met or heard of before.

The other advantage of the trade fairs, is it gives you the opportunity to view some of the latest products to hit the Australian market. Being one of the first to view these new products, could provide you with an invaluable advantage over your competitors.
